The acquisition and merger of a medical supply manufacturer required a new warehouse distribution center to be constructed and designed with streamlined warehouse automation. The Numina Group is a recognized leader in warehouse design and implementation of automated technologies and was more than happy to help accommodate this returning client with automated warehouse solutions.
Numina provided a thorough and detailed new warehouse design for the original client project which entailed supporting over 2,000 SKUs in a temperature-controlled environment, requiring refrigeration and ambient temperature control. This distribution center had to meet high volume production requirements consisting of processing 33 million bottles of product annually, with distribution to all 50 states through five different supply chain channels.
Warehouse Designed for Streamlined Automation
The Numina Group provided a warehouse design which encompassed converting their current 280,000 square foot facility into a new 100,000 square foot facility, with automated technologies and reduced labor touches. Resizing the operation was the biggest challenge for Numina who embraced the opportunity to utilize the entire cube of the 100,000 square foot facility.
Numina’s skilled warehouse design engineers conducted several analytical studies based on combined order volumes with five-year projections. We recommended and developed a multi-level pick module design utilizing the optimum picking technology for maximum automation. Our recommendations provided the ROI the executive management team was looking for while meeting order fulfillment requirements. Numina provided automated warehouse solutions which resulted in a reduction of pick labor expense by at least 50 percent with an increase in productivity doubling from 110 lines per hour (LPH) to 222 LPH.
Numina offers Warehouse Control and Execution System solutions with real-time control of automated technologies including voice picking technology, pick to light systems, automated conveyor systems, print and apply labeling and additional automated technologies for maximum warehouse automation. Our warehouse control system easily integrates with any warehouse management system (WMS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
